Great East Coast Start for Coach Seiji Clients!
#29 Red Bull/KTM Facotory Racing pilot Andrew Short and #156 Rockstar Energy/Suzuki rookie Jason Anderson both shined in the East Coast opener of the 2011 Monster Energy Supercross Series. The soft dirt and “home court” advantage of Reliant Stadium in Houston was kind to both transplanted Texans.
Andrew started the night out with a breakthrough heat race by blasting out of the far inside gate to a great start that lead to a solid 2nd place finish. Andrew carried this momentum and recreated another great start in his main event which lead to a 5th place finish after a late moto charge that allowed him to pick up a spot from Brett Metcalfe. This 5th place result is KTM’s best ever in a major main event.
Anderson also garnered and excellent start in his heat race, avoiding first turn problems that seemed to plague racing throughout the night. Jason overcame rookie jitters to card a 5th place finish in his first ever supercross gate drop. Jason again worked his way into a solid start in the main event, working his way into 3rd in the first lap but was caught in a two rider mishap that had him hung up enough to lose 3 spots. Jason would battle valiantly to end up finishing 7th in his first ever main event.
Congrats to both riders on their return to the Lone Star State and a warm “welcome home” to Andrew Short who also has the bonus of coming home to a new baby boy.
