Andrew Short and KTM Debut the 350!

Red Bull/KTM Factory racing and Coach Seiji client #29 Andrew Short put the new 2011 350 SX-F to the test at Anaheim 1 over the weekend. Shorty’s excitement to race the completely new bike as part of a totally new team has been evident since testing and was visible at Angel Stadium. Although his eventual 10th place in the main event fell a little short of expectations, positive thoughts prevail and better results await.

The practice sessions went extremely well and both rider and bike appeared to be on point. Shorty’s heat race went smoothly after a lackluster start as he easily qualified for the main with a 7th place finish.

In the 20 lap main event, Shorty got a good jump but was immediately pinched off on the start straight, emerging out of the first turn near the back of the field. He fought through the first lap picking off riders on his way to 11th after lap one. He battled his team mate #800 Mike Alessi for the 10th place spot which he protected for the remainder of the main event.

Shorty’s finish is a good place to start and he is looking forward to continiuing to learn how to get the most out of his awesome SX-F 350 and improving upon his Anaheim 1 finish as the 2011 Monster Energy Supercross series continues!
